Gunman Targets Two Men in the City
Urban violence continues to plague the Old Capital and tonight one of two persons injured in a late night shooting on Monday remains hospitalized. Around nine-twenty p.m., eighteen year old Rodrick Williams and nineteen Aleem Richardson were at the corner of Elston Kerr Street and Iguana Street extension when a lone gunman came from the direction of Carters Upholstery and fired several shots in their direction. Williams was hit to the abdomen, hand and back, while Richardson was injured on his right finger. They were both rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and admitted in stable a stable condition. While police say that a motive has not been ascertained in this shooting, on August fifteenth in that same vicinity, thirty-one year old Charles Hinds Junior and forty-one year old Eldon Solomon were injured in another shooting. It is not known if the shootings are linked, but today, the uncle of Williams told News Five that his nephew is a basketball player that was senselessly fired on.
