Female taxi driver charged in carvings heist
There is another crime story emerging from the Belize City Commercial Centre tonight as a female taxi driver has been charged with breaking into at least two booths and stealing more than fifty wooden carvings. According to court reports, thirty-five year old Antoinette Usher, a resident of Berry Street, appeared before Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie where she pleaded not guilty to burglary and handling stolen goods. It is alleged that on Tuesday, Usher entered two stalls belonging to Carlos Medina and removed fifty-four wooden sculptures shaped like drinking glasses. We understand that during their investigations, police found nine of the carvings in Usher’s possession. The accused was granted bail in the sum of five thousand dollars and told to return to court on January twenty-seventh.
