PACT calendar features “Flowers of Belize”
Today, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust officially launched the third edition of its Christmas calendar. Produced by Bel-Caribe, the calendar features the Flowers of Belize, and for plant lovers it’s a collector’s treasure. PACT’s Executive Director Valdemar Andrade and Bel-Caribe Managing Director Cynthia Henry explain why they want you to support the publication.
Valdemar Andrade, Executive Director, PACT
?It features twelve flowers, some that are common and some not so common. It features our national flower, the black orchid. And basically we want to just, through the calendar, bring the natural resource into your home and basically so you look at a part of it every month. It features a bit about PACT and proceeds from this initiative will go to conservation through small grants.?
Cynthia Henry, Manger Director, Bel-Caribe
?So the calendar is even educational because when you hang it up in your home, we even have an explanation of each flower. Each month has a different flower, and then there is an explanation, then there is the regular name, there is the common name that we know in Belize, there is the scientific name. And children can learn about the flowers and appreciate them more when they see them around us.?
Calendars can be purchased from Bel-Caribe or gift shops across the country.
