Rotary, Salvation Army launch toy drive
With Christmas just a month away, the hustle and bustle of the season is in full swing. And so are the fundraising drives intended to put a smile on the faces of thousands of Belizeans young and old. One such initiative kicked off today as the Rotary Club of Belize and the Salvation Army team up once more for their annual toy drive. According to the drive’s coordinator, Eddie Bouloy, collection points are in major shopping spots across the city.

?This year we are again trying to raise two thousand toys, which we were successful in doing last year. This year we need a bit more because Salvation Army is also taking on the children of the people at the prison. The Salvation Army Christmas party happens on December thirteenth, so we basically have just over two weeks in which we have to raise in excess of two thousand toys. This year we were very lucky in Belize, we didn?t have any natural disasters, no hurricanes thank God, and this the time of year we must all think of sharing and how much we can share with others in our community. How lucky we all are. And we are asking for everyone to make this another big success this year. We have toy drop off barrels at Mirab, A & R, Brodie’s, and Hofius. We are willing to take good used toys or new toys, we don?t want junk. We want everybody to let their heart and their conscience be their guide in giving as much as they can.?
The collection barrels will be emptied every two days and separated into toys for boys and girls before being sent over to the Salvation Army, who will be responsible for distribution.
