WIN-Belize promotes health awareness with torch run

A flame of awareness is spreading across the country this week as part of the Women’s Issues Network Torch Run 2005. The torch was ignited during official ceremonies in Corozal last Friday morning and since then has travelled through the Orange Walk District. On Thursday, the torch will be carried through the streets of San Pedro before entering Belize City on Friday. According to organisers, the run is part of a health conference entitled “Woman, Man, One People; United to Reduce HIV/AIDS and Gender Based Violence.” On Saturday, it will be in the Cayo District. On Thursday, December first the flame will tour Belmopan and Dangriga. The torch run will end in Punta Gorda with a two-day health conference on December seventh and eight.
