More bounced cheques for Safa account
With so many business establishments refusing to accept personal cheques these days, it seems incredible that one Belize City man was able to buy thousands of dollars worth of goods by bouncing worthless paper from three different banks. That’s right, the name Safa has surfaced yet again in connection with bad cheques. This time, the manager of A.E.S. told police a printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine was purchased with a Scotia Bank cheque for one thousand three hundred dollars with the name Yasser Safa. The Belize Shipping Agency also reported accepting a Belize Bank cheque for almost six thousand dollars for a forty foot container to be shipped from Houston to Belize. Both were written to accounts that were no longer active or had insufficient funds. These two incidents follow on the heels of a report from Courts that they were cheated out of over six thousand dollars by someone using an Atlantic Bank cheque for an account in Safa’s name to purchase a forty-two inch plasma screen TV. Police are currently seeking Safa for questioning.
