Anglican Diocese prepares for Bishop consecration
Tonight preparations continue in earnest for the official consecration of Reverend Canon Philip Wright as Bishop for the Anglican diocese of Belize. Presiding over the ceremony will be Archbishop of the West Indies Drexel Gomez. This afternoon Archbishop Gomez called on Anglicans to work with the clergy as only through unity can the work of the church move forward. In speaking with us today, Bishop designate Wright echoed those sentiments, maintaining that together is the only way to take on the challenges of today.
Rev. Canon Philip Wright, Bishop Designate, Belize
?Well understandably, when you have this big and event there is a mix of excitement and some measure of nervousness; excitement, because it is an important moment for us and some bit of nervousness when you pause to consider the size of task and the tremendous responsibility. But overall, pretty good I think.?

?What is your message today to the Belizean diocese??
Rev. Canon Philip Wright
?I think the basic message is the gospel of Christ still holds and it still needs to be preached in word and deed and it is preached best when we all join, when we?re all together and we work together. And I think that will be my humble appeal, let?s do it together. ?
Tomorrow’s ceremony starts at ten in the morning at St. John’s Cathedral in Belize City. Rev. Canon Philip Wright replaces Bishop Sylvester Romero Palma as head of the Anglican Church in Belize.
