Teenager charged in Belize City beat down

A teenager has been arrested and charged following a beat-down in Belize City that sent another youth to the hospital. Seventeen year old Miguel Angel Chacon, is described by police as the ring leader of a group of men who beat and robbed two young men at the Belize City Centre. According to the authorities, sixteen year old Gladson Gomez and his brother, seventeen year old Michael Gomez were on the veranda when they were approached by a group of young men. Gladson says Chacon began to choke Michael and when he tried to help, Chacon punched him in the face. It is further alleged that Chacon then stole a cell phone and beach cruiser bicycle from the brothers. Chacon has since been charged for the crimes of harm, wounding, and two counts of robbery.
