Cyclist in coma after being hit by car
Thirty-seven year old Mark Gabb tonight remains unconscious at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was knocked off his bicycle early Monday morning. According to Belize City police, the incident took place around three-thirty a.m. at the intersection of Central American Boulevard and Faber’s Road. Investigations reveal that Gabb, who was riding a beach cruiser, was hit by a car driven by thirty-one year old Gareth Humes. Humes has told police that he was driving his vehicle along the boulevard heading towards the Port when upon reaching the intersection he hit Gabb who was travelling in the same direction. It is not clear if the driver and the bicyclist know each other, but investigations reveal that both men had been at a club on Central American Boulevard shortly before the incident. No charges as yet have been filed and police continue their investigations.
