Glenmore Stevens Gunned Down in Belize City
There was an unplanned power interruption that plunged the entire country into darkness on Independence eve. It occurred sometime after eight p.m. when in some municipalities celebrations were ongoing. But just prior to the blackout, there was a murder in south side Belize City. Thirty-eight-year-old Glenmore Stevens was shot and killed on Raleigh Street off the Mahogany by a lone gun man who approached him from behind and fired at least ten shots at him. While police say that the motive is unknown, speculation is that the murder was drug related and that in fact, the alleged shooter returned to the area as police processed the scene. Police Press Officer explains.
Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer
“Just after seven o’clock on the twentieth of September, police visited the K.H.M.H. where they saw the body of a thirty-eight year old Glenmore Stephens. Initial investigations reveal that Stephens was walking along Raleigh Street in the vicinity of Electric Avenue and of course McKay Boulevard by the Complex when he was approached by a lone culprit who fired several shots at him and causing his fatal injuries. Police have since detained a twenty-seven year old male person who they believe can assist in this investigation.”
