Brutality Allegedly Results from Search for Missing Chairman

Usher Junior worked with Hattieville Chairman, Kevin Carcamo, who went missing just over two months ago on July twentieth following a routine day’s work in Freetown Sibun, in the village. Carcamo was employed as a linesman by an oil company, Discoverseis, doing geophysical work and after he went to work that Sunday, he has not been seen or heard from since. After weeks of searching by police, the Belize Special Assignments Group and employees of the company, the family has feared the worse. From what we were able to gather, the officers in their alleged brutality of Usher Junior, questioning him on what happened to Carcamo. Usher Junior did not want to give an on camera interview due to further reprisals. Espinosa says that she has since contacted the Ombudsman Office in Belize City to make a report about the brutality against his son, allegedly at the hands of three officers.

“The police are there to protect and serve the people, not to abuse the peopled dehn and I need them to leave my son alone because my son noh got nothing fi do with Kevin Carcamo. Kevin Carcamo partly raise my three sons. We use to live together by my grandfather, side by side. We were good neighbors, good friends. So they need to leave my son alone and find whosoever had any doings with Kevin Carcamo. And I want Palomo and those two officers in Hattieville to pay for what they did to my son because they nearly killed my son. And they must remember that they are born from a woman and they have family and they have kids and they wouldn’t let nobody chance their kids or their family like what they did to my son.”

“I told my relatives to take pictures of all his injuries. I talked to the Ombudsman; he is going to fight the case. He said he needed a police medical form from the Raccoon Street Police Station; I told my son to go get it, go to the hospital and fill it out and take those things in back because they need to pay for what they did to my son. Because if they don’t stop, they are going to continue doing it and when you look, my son ends up dead.”
