Requeña Brothers Acquitted of Attempted Murder
Back to the courts on criminal matters…Two brothers Giovanni and his older sibling, Denton Requeña and their friend, David Sedacey, were freed of a very serious offense. They were acquitted of the Attempted Murder of Simeon Velasquez, who at the time of the incident was a minor. The case fell apart when Velasquez, who is now over eighteen years, started giving testimony against the trio, but then chose not to continue. On July twenty-first, 2009, the brothers were seen chasing a minor and then attacking him in a yard on Allan Pitts Crescent. The minor was badly beaten and was left disfigured with a damaged left eye. Velasquez was stabbed multiple times. When Velasquez refrained from giving further evidence in the Supreme Court trial, Prosecutor Sheneiza Smith was forced to close her case against the men. Judge Troadio Gonzalez instructed the nine-member jury to find the men not guilty. So while the trio is home tonight, Velasquez is serving a three year jail term for an aggravated assault with a machete for an incident that occurred some years ago.
