Inspector under investigation for missing cash
Tonight a senior police officer is under internal investigation by the Belize City department following reports of missing money. This afternoon Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid would only say that Inspector Oscar Puga of the Patrol Branch is the subject of an official probe following the allegations made against him. According to published reports in the media, the claim stems from a robbery investigation in February in which Puga reportedly received four thousand dollars but never handed it in to his superiors. We understand that the Security Services Commission, chaired by Anthony Sylvestre, will meet on Monday to review the matter. Reid told News Five today that because this is an internal inquiry, Puga has not been interdicted from duty.
