2 Men Detained for Pistol-Whipping Businessman
We reported on Monday that a businessman is alleging he was pistol whipped then robbed by a group of men who surrounded him as he walked on Wagner’s Lane in Belize City last Saturday. Today, three days after the armed robbery, police say they have two suspects and have detained Shane Budram, who was identified by Ignacio Villanueva as the main suspect, along with a minor. Both were escorted to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where they appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano and arraigned for Robbery and Wounding. Both pleaded not guilty and the minor was remanded to the Wagner’s facility until December eighth when the case comes up while Budram was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. In the incident, Villanueva was robbed of his cell phone, tennis shoe, cap and cash. He ended up in the hospital because he was pistol whipped in the head.
