Chicken stand customer held up for $5

A security guard who was just about to pay for his fried chicken order on Wednesday night had his money snatched out his hand by a man with a knife. Roy Zelaya told police that Ellis Meighan, someone he has known for five years, came up to him at the window of Belizean Fried Chicken at the corner of Ebony and Hondo Streets, put the weapon to his neck, and grabbed his five dollars. Meighan quickly ran off, but he is well known to police for no less than forty-one previous allegations against him–almost all of which have been dismissed–and was picked up almost immediately. Meighan appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord today where he pleaded not guilty and was remanded to custody until November twenty-fourth.
