How to Design Mobile Apps in Belize

An interactive mobile application workshop will commence this weekend in Belize City. The workshop is the second of its kind being held by Belizean entrepreneur, Tiffany Simpson, who recently returned from Trinidad and Tobago where she was featured in the media on her application that tests students for the CSEC exams. With the support of Smart Belize, the workshop will be held at the University of the West Indies in Belize City starting this Saturday. The workshop is opened to the entire public including students who are in third form or above. Today, Simpson came to our studio to tell us more.

Tiffany Simpson, Organizer, Mobile App Workshop

“This course is co-sponsored by Smart and it is one of the initiatives that I have started in terms of getting individuals to learn the king of technical skills that can help them to take advantage of the opportunities that are available in this type of economy. It is a part of my Tech It Easy training courses and I hope to be able to provide the courses, this course in particular, to individuals in the districts as well.”

Duane Moody

“It is only one of the many products that you have created. Tell us about what it is going to entail…these three Saturday of training. I know that you said that it is something really interactive.”

“Yes, the course is also available on CD-Rom; it is an interactive course and each participant will receive a copy of the course. It is narrated as well as illustrated and it will walk them through the entire steps of creating mobile apps using the maps platform.”

Duane Moody

“How easy is it to create a mobile app?”

Tiffany Simpson

“It is so easy; a six year old can do it.”

“These persons…I know you said it is going to be a hundred dollars, the cost. Do they need anything to bring with them?”

Tiffany Simpson

“Just a laptop computer and of course the course will be held at UWI. We only have four more slots available though. So interested individuals should contact me at 607-1088 or email me at admin@tiffanysimpsonbelize.com and secure a spot.”

At the end of the workshop, the participants will each have their mobile app that will be available for download or purchase on the Google Play Store. Additionally, Simpson says that later this year, several other applications will be launched including Belize Travel App, Fi We Events and a Whatsapp Clone.
