Molester fined for fondling child
A child molester who was caught in the act was today given a fine instead of time in prison. Gregorio Cacho was found guilty of aggravated assault in Magistrate’ Court and fined one thousand dollars. Several witnesses testified against him including a twenty-three year old woman who said she went to the victim’s home to retrieve a borrowed item on September thirtieth, 2004, and was stunned to discover the nine-year-old girl on Cacho’s lap and his hands between her legs. The witness told the court that when she asked the girl what was going on, she said that Cacho had fondled her and she started crying and telling him she would tell her mother. Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord told Cacho he was only being lenient because he had no previous convictions. Cacho was ordered to pay three hundred dollars immediately and the rest by October thirtieth. Under the law, Cacho could have been given three years in jail.
