Softball and Football Stats on Sports Monday

Good evening, I’m James Adderley and this is Sports Monday.

We start off with Saturday’s big clash in the Cayo 1st Division Football Competition as Bullet Tree battled Westrac inside the Norman Broaster Stadium. Folks, we’re only some 5 minutes into the action when Luis Arevalo fires this right foot shot just inside the box and goalkeeper, Robin Rodriguez, botches what should have been an easy save as Westrac take the 1-zip lead. 4 minutes later, Westrac defender, Carlos Rosales, hands this call; it might have been inadvertent bt that decision belong to the referee and he ruled penalty for Bullet Tree. Elvis Pinelo gets the call and he doesn’t disappoint beating Ayel de la Rosa rather easilt to knot the score at 1 apiece.

Westrac then looks to retake the lead on this outside bomb from Mario Herrera but Robin Rodriguez handles the launch. At the other end, Elvis Pinelo does everything right until he pulls the trigger to unleash a shot that had no legs.

It’s Westrac again on the move off this set piece that forces the goalkeeper into a tough save and at the half we have a 1-1 tie. Meanwhile folks, a minute into the resumption of play, Luis Arevalo fires this grounder at goal; Rodriguez intervenes but the rebound reaches Fredy Herrera and Westrac takes the 2-1 lead. Herrera wants more so he fires this potent right foot that rises over the crossbar. Nevertheless, it’s Fredy Herrera who puts the game out of reach with this screamer that crashes into the net as Westrac gets the 3-1 Big Win.

In the meantime, we made a push into the People’s Stadium at OW on Saturday for the advertized match between FC Belize and Verdes FC only to find the schedule was rained out. this match now gets underway on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at at the People’s Stadium. Now, here are the results from ballgames that were concluded on Sunday. Wagiya FC and Belmopan Bandits battle to a 1 all draw and the B.D.F. rolled over Paradise Freedom Fighters in a 2-zip blast. On Saturday, it was Texmar Assassins and Police United settling for a scoreless stalemate.

Now let’s return to the People’s Stadium where the Orange Walk Male Softball Championship match found Jada’s Male Softball face Mad Bull for all the marbles. We’re in the bottom of the 3rd with Bryan Grant of Mad Bull facing Jada’s Male pitcher, Jermaine Chi and he makes contact with a double to centerfield which allows Milton Flores to score all the way from 2nd. Chi gets out of the inning when he forces Willard Jones to pop up to centerfield and #8 Robert Crawford makes the catch. In the top of the 5th, Ray Chable comes up against Damian Chan and he flies to the outfield and its deep enough to allow John Majarrez to score from 3rd and tie the ballgame at 1 apiece. We’re in the top of the 7th. Kos Majarrez steps up against Milton Flores who replaces Chan on the mound and he unleashes a pass ball that triggers 2 throwing errors. Willard Jones scores all the way from 1st to give Jada’s Male a 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Flores is again victimized by a pass ball and player # 3 scores from 3rd to give Jada’s the 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, this batter beats out the bunt and Carlton Flores scores from 2nd base to make it a 3-2 score. Mad Ball is down to their last out when Shaquille Moody grounds this ball to 2nd base whose throw gets Moody and Jada’s Male hang on to the 3-2 score to claim the Orange Walk Male Softball Title. On the female side, Jada’s won over Caribbean Queen 16 to 4 on the mercy rule to tie the Championship series at 1 apiece. The decisive Game III comes up this Sunday 2 p.m. at the People’s Stadium.
