Tropical Storm Hanna is No Threat to Belize

We will have more details on Tropical Storm Hanna later in our newscast, but for now we can tell you that Hanna poses no threat to Belize.  In an advisory sent out today, the National Emergency Management Organization says the tropical storm is heading deeper into Nicaragua and Honduras and that on its present course, it is expected that it will remain inland along the borders of the two countries. This track, says NEMO, will weaken the system. However, rains will be heavy in the next twenty-four to thirty hours causing the Rio Hondo and Mopan Rivers to slowly rise. According to NEMO the low-lying Bridge and the Iguana Creek Bridge on the Macal River are at flood state and both the Baking Pot and Succotz ferries remain closed. But again, Hanna poses no significant threat to Belize.
