Weekend Robberies in Old Capital
There were a number of robberies committed over the weekend which kept the Police Department on their toes. On Saturday, a sixty-four year old Belize City mother and her daughter were attacked in the area of the Anglican Cathedral College on Albert Street West just after three o’clock in the afternoon. Two men pounced on them; one struggled with the elderly woman while the other held the younger female at knife point taking possession of her hand bag. She lost her I-phone Five and personal documents to the thieves. Later on Saturday, a resident from the City claims that while he was on Princess Margaret Drive, a woman requested his taxi services. But she was not alone and two men soon jumped into his vehicle. They requested that they be taken to the West Landivar area, but in the process, they held him at gunpoint. His ordeal did not end there because the trio robbed him of his vehicle, four hundred and seventy-five dollars in cash and cellular phone. There is another robbery to report; it occurred on West Street. A twenty-seven year old security guard reports that about midnight on Sunday, three men stole his motor cycle. Police have since detained one person and have recovered the motor cycle.
