Fire at Belfuel Company in Shipyard, Orange Walk
Disaster was narrowly averted today after Fire Department personnel managed to extinguish a blaze in Camp Six, Shipyard in the Orange Walk District. The fire occurred at the Belfuel Company which is a fuel storage facility, and it started at a container which allegedly contained crude oil. Employees believe that the fire was caused by an electrical short, and they were unable to douse the flames. After more than two hours with no success, workers called in the Orange Walk Fire Department and with the aid of high pressure hoses, the flames were put out this afternoon. Nobody was hurt in the blaze, and Fire Department investigators are investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
