Serial chain snatcher gets 6 years
A career chain snatcher has been given six years in prison for yet another incident involving a gold chain. Rudolph “Tuba” Smith of Plues Street was found guilty of robbery after his victim, Lorraine Herrera, testified that she was walking on Water Lane in Belize City on November fifteenth, 2004, when Tuba accosted her, held a knife to her stomach and snatched off her two gold chains. He then fled on his bike. Herrera identified him when he was picked up by police. In August, Smith was also given two years for ripping a gold chain off an eleven year old girl. In 2004, he was accused of a number of sexual offences against minors and was convicted of the rape of a fifteen year old girl, but that case was later overturned.
