Speednet files application for an injunction against B.T.L.

Speednet Communications Ltd., the parent company for Smart, filed an application for an injunction against Belize Telemedia Limited in the Supreme Court of Belize earlier today. The application for a court order became necessary after B.T.L. served Speednet with a notice of termination of service via certain links to take effect as of Friday, November fourteenth. The cancelation will leave almost seven thousand Smart customers in the Toledo District without access to voice and data services. Speednet has written to the Public Utilities Commission which has said that it is not in a position to intervene.
