Arson victim goes easy on suspect
An inmate at the Hattieville prison has dropped his case against an accused arsonist saying jail is no place for a young man. On Wednesday Justo Swaso told Justice Troadio Gonzalez he wanted to give twenty year old Vicente Reina a break since he has seen first hand what prison is like. The judge then instructed the jury to find Reina not guilty and he was released. Swaso had reported to police that on the morning of October twenty-eighth, 2004 he awoke around three a.m. to discover Reina in his yard sprinkling gasoline on his house. No motive was given for the action, but the two men live next door to each other on Jane Usher Boulevard and it is believed they had some sort of neighbourhood dispute. Swaso was subsequently given a five year prison term for his involvement in a burglary during the night of looting in Belize City on April twentieth.
