Two Die in Separate RTAs

Over the weekend, two persons were killed on the highways. On Friday night, a woman lost her life in a traffic accident between miles fifty and fifty one on the George Price Highway. She was hit by a van driven by forty-one year old Jorge Luis Romero, a taxi driver who was travelling from San Ignacio to Belmopan. In the area of the Westar gas station, fifty-two year old Maria Wright of Roaring Creek ran across the highway and was hit by the van and injured on her head and face.  Wright was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and died at about ten thirty.  And on Saturday evening, twenty-six year old Eric Pook and nineteen year old Wilbert Garcia, from Guinea Grass, ran into a moving trailer attached to a tractor that was heading to the village. Pook and Garcia were travelling on a motorcycle when they ran into the trailer which did not stop. The duo was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital with severe body injuries. Pook later succumbed and was pronounced dead at five after seven. Garcia survived the incident. While two persons lost their lives in road traffic accidents, an elderly man died from drowning. Forty-nine year old Elizabeth Shish of Benque Viejo Town, found her seventy-six year old father, Daniel David Baños of Saint Joseph Street, dead in a pool of water. There were no signs of violence and a post mortem on Baños certifies the cause of death was due to Drowning.  Baños had experienced various strokes prior to his death.
