Police officer convicted of rape

Story PictureThe verdict is in and Crispin Jeffries Junior has been found guilty of rape. The thirty year old police officer, son of Assistant Commissioner Crispin Jeffries Senior, was unanimously convicted this afternoon by a jury of seven men and two women in the courtroom of Justice Adolph Lucas. Testimony during the trial indicated that following a party on the night of March thirteenth, 2004, Jeffries was part of a group of young men and women who went to the Diamond Hotel at mile four on the Northern Highway. The nineteen year old victim told the court that she had been urged by her sister to go into a room with Jeffries, on the understanding that it was just to talk. But that at some point Jeffries grabbed her, forcibly removed her clothes, and engaged in sex with her against her will. Sentencing will take place on October fourteenth. News Five understands that by law the minimum sentence for rape is eight years in prison.
