Derrick Bain Convicted of Theft for a Second Time
A convicted thief, who is already serving time behind bars, picked up his second conviction for crimes of dishonesty after pleading guilty to theft for snatching a chain from an eighteen year old student. The incident happened back in October 2013, while the victim was walking on Sixth Street in the King’s Park area of Belize City. This morning, Derrick Bain, who is a resident of a Pine Street address, Belize City, changed his not guilty plea to guilty when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith. Bain snatched the chain from Kadisha Dawson, who at the time was a student, but is now a woman police officer. For the guilty plea, Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith imposed a custodial sentence of nine months against Bain. This new jail term is to run consecutively with a jail term he is presently serving for another theft which occurred in the Belmopan area.
