Five arrested in connection with car theft
Did you ever wonder what happens to all those stolen cars that disappear off the streets of Belize City? It looks like police have at least discovered the remains of one… along with some folks with some questions to answer. Twenty-three year old Samuel Nicholas, twenty-three year old Egbert Jones, twenty-four year old Andy Hernandez and two minors were today charged with damage to property and handling stolen goods in connection with a Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen on Sunday. Around four that afternoon when Ladyville police stopped a van with the five defendants inside they also discovered the Camry’s engine, transmission and other vital parts. Questioning of the suspects led police to Willow’s Bank Village where the rest of the Toyota was found. Nicholas and Jones were also charged with the theft of the vehicle. The five all pleaded not guilty and were released on five thousand dollars bail.
