Jewellery store robbers caught; loot not found
Police have arrested and charged one man in connection with a brazen jewellery heist in downtown Belize City. According to court reports, around six-thirty Tuesday morning, employees of Medina and Sons were inside the Albert Street branch getting ready to set up the street side stalls when three men burst into the store. Emmeth Jones says that within seconds a gun was put to his head and a black bag containing five thousand dollars worth of gold chains and ten thousand dollars worth of gold rings were snatched from the counter. The thieves left as quickly as they had come; disappearing off Regent Street. A subsequent police investigation has resulted in the arrest of twenty-five year old Fabian Bain of a Junesville Street address who was picked out from a police I.D. parade. Bain appeared before Magistrate Margaret McKenzie where he was arraigned on one count of robbery. Tonight we understand that none of the stolen jewellery has been recovered.
