Young Mother Behind Bars for a Bullet

Anna Card

A young mother remains behind bars tonight along with her two siblings, but sadly her two month old baby boy is at home being deprived of breast milk. The case of the Usher Family who was dragged to court on Wednesday of this week, on a charge of Kept Ammunition without being granted a Gun License was brought back before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith.  And again, there was disappointment that the family had to return to prison except for Shantel Usher who saw charges withdrawn against her. This morning when the matter resumed, court prosecutor, Christopher Smith, informed the court there is no evidence to prove the charge against her since she had arrived at the house just prior to the discovery of the bullet. The others: house owner, Danika Usher and her two brothers, Donovan Charles Usher and a minor were all further remanded to prison until February eleventh, 2015. On Wednesday police officers arrived at the house of the Ushers on Cardinez Alley where they conducted a search and allegedly found a bullet. The group was arraigned for Kept ammunition. Following arraignment today, Usher’s mother, Anna Card, told our court reporter that she believes the bullet was planted.

“What happened that day and what have you learnt since all this have transpired?”

Anna Card

“When i come home a family member told me what had happened. There was a shooting earlier around the lane form us and they picked up two minor and they said the police went straight to the back and claim they found a bullet in the house. And my children are fishermen they not into that, if you go to the station my children has no record, they are not in gang and they work for what they want they don’t need to be on the street kike that.

“So what do you believe? Why would they find a bullet at your daughter’s house?

Anna Card

“To b honest they plant it because when I went to station the GSUY officer tell me that he saw a bullet behind some CD behind a pink plastic bag. Now I don’t know if he has x-ray vision to see that behind a plastic bag and behind some DVD. He went straight in there, straight to that and found that, that is ridiculous.”

Police are also looking for Danika’s boyfriend as he is facing similar charges since he also resides at the house.
