Barrow: Challenges highlight country’s strength
For Opposition Leader Dean Barrow, the challenges facing our country have highlighted the strength of diverse people working towards one goal: a better Belize.

“The Kriol Kulcha fair, now to be an annual fixture on the September calendar seeks to restore the lustre of a foundation culture, to place it properly alongside our Garifuna culture and our Maya, Mestizo culture and all the other braided strands of our democracy. We contemplate the continued fertilisation provided by in-migration from Mexico and Central America and the Caribbean, from Asia and the Middle East and Africa. And truly, we marvel at the wonder of our diversity. And it is in the fact of our ability, socially and culturally, to seamlessly weave together the very variegation of that diversity that so much of our strength lies. But our greatest triumph is in the determination of our populace, made so manifest in the early months of this year to always tell truth to power. It is that above all which enables us to say, year after year with abiding faith and conviction: Happy Independence Belize.”
