Two found guilty of church break-in

Still on the crime beat, two men have been arrested and charged with burglary for breaking into a church building. News Five understands that when officials of the Methodist Church visited the Berham Manse Building on Albert Street, they were greeted by broken padlocks and doors. Initial inspection of the site showed that a person or persons had been living there as numerous personal items were found inside. A further search of the building netted the “occupants” themselves, identified as eighteen year old Alexis Bautista and a fourteen-year-old minor. The police were called in and the two have since been found guilty of the charge. Bautista was fined two thousand dollars while the minor was ordered to pay a thousand dollars in two instalments. Earlier this year Bautista was involved in another incident in which he was accused of the rape of a minor. Relatives of the victim were later charged with kidnapping Bautista and beating him up before turning him over to the authorities.
