Butane Price Slashed by $5 Countrywide
If you plan on doing any baking or cooking this Christmas Season then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that as of midnight the cost per hundred pound cylinder of butane is going down by five dollars. Earlier today, the Supplies Control Unit in the Ministry of Trade and Investment announced that the new controlled price of liquid petroleum gas imported by Belize Gas Limited and Western Gas Company Limited from Mexico has reduced from a hundred and nine dollars to a hundred and four dollars in Belize City. Across the country, the same five dollar discount is also being reflected with LPG imported by Southern Choice Butane and Gas Tomza from Central America now costing a hundred and one dollar per hundred pound tank in Belize City. While the price has been cut across all municipalities a tank of gas is still most expensive in Punta Gorda where it retails for a hundred and six dollars. The cost for imported LPG is based on a sixty-forty propane to butane ratio. The pending reduction indicates that a hundred pound cylinder is twenty dollars cheaper when compared to the same period in 2013.
