Drug bust weighs in at 5,238 pounds of cocaine
The police have finally finished weighing those ninety-nine bales of cocaine seized on Monday and indeed, the bust is by far the biggest on record. The official tally is two thousand, three hundred and seventy-six kilograms or five thousand, two hundred and thirty-eight pounds. No arrests have been made and police remain tight-lipped about their investigation, but reports to News Five indicate that six men, all members of one family, have been detained for questioning. The family is said to own property on South Tobacco Caye, which is near the island in the Tobacco Range where the drugs were found. It is suspected that the men were involved in the unloading of the Colombian vessel that delivered the cocaine sometime last week.
