Body of Guatemalan Laborer Discovered on More Tomorrow Road
The second murder was a particularly bloody one, as a Guatemalan labourer was stabbed to death on the remote More Tomorrow Road. It happened sometime in the early hours of Saturday morning, when it is believed that twenty-two year old Juan Alberto Guerra Ramirez was socializing with other persons at a bar nearby when there was some sort of altercation. That, Police believe escalated to the point where Ramirez was stabbed multiple times in the face, head and upper body at a deserted spot about three-quarter mile from the junction with the highway. Police got the call at around nine that morning and made the gruesome discovery.
Supt. Howell Gillett, Officer Commanding, Belmopan
“We received information of a body that was found about a mile into the More Tomorrow Road. We immediately responded and upon arrival we confirmed that there was a body, who we later identified as Juan Alberto Guerra Ramirez; he is a Guatemalan labourer of the Harmonyville Area here in our jurisdiction. The body had multiple wounds to the face and to the upper part of the body. During our investigation, a number of persons were detained. We believe before the court closes for the Christmas break, we will have someone arrested and charged for the murder. As a matter of fact, we have some persons in custody, one of whom, we believe will be charged very shortly for the murder of Mister Ramirez. The investigation is showing that the deceased and the accused and others had a dispute over some stolen item and that is what we believe caused the heinous crime to have occurred.”
We’ve just been informed that Belmopan Police have charged one man for that murder. He is Honduran farm caretaker Marvin Jeovanny Duarte Chinchilla, residing on the More Tomorrow Village Road.
