News 5 wins big in Caribbean Broadcasting Awards

Story PictureIt was a good night for Channel Five in the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. In a programme televised throughout the region last night, News Five took top honours in five categories, more than any other television station in the Caribbean. The winning stories included a piece on Toledo farmers done by myself and George Tillett and a story on mental health by Jacqueline Woods and Brent Toombs. Toombs also won with work that he both reported and edited, namely “The Hammock” and a sports feature on the hockey craze in Spanish Lookout. In addition, this station won in the category of Best Community Service Project for its Christmas promotion on behalf of the Salvation Army. Also receiving special mention were entries by 13 Productions and Bel-Caribe. The Caribbean Broadcasting Awards are given annually by the Caribbean Broadcasting Union.
