18-year-old detained in attack on girlfriend
In crime news from the west, an eighteen-year old man from San Ignacio has been detained pending a charge of attempted murder in connection with an attack on his teenaged girlfriend. According to police and media reports, around seven on Saturday night, the sixteen year old girl was in the Hillview area of the town with her boyfriend, Abdiel Sandoval, when she told him that she wanted to end their two-year relationship. It is alleged that Sandoval reacted violently to the news, taking out a knife which he used to cut the girl’s throat and stab her in the back and the right side of her body. The girl was rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital but was later transferred to the K.H.M.H. where she remains in a critical but stable condition. On Monday night, Sandoval, with his lawyer at his side, turned himself into police. They tell News Five that Sandoval will be charged with attempted murder and maim.
