Driver charged in fatal accident
Police have arrested and charged a resident of Hopkins Village following a fatal traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway over the weekend. Twenty-four year old Morrison Foster has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention. Foster was driving a Suzuki S.U.V. on Saturday just before midnight when it collided with another vehicle between miles twenty-one and twenty-two on the Hummingbird Highway. As a result of the crash, Foster’s passenger, eighteen year old Benson Ramclam Jr., suffered fatal head and body injuries as he was thrown from the vehicle. Ramclam was not wearing a seatbelt. Foster was also charged with one count of negligent harm in connection with injuries sustained by another passenger in the Suzuki, twenty year old Leon Ramclam. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as forty-nine year old Santiago Hernandez, escaped without injury.
