Nominees sought for local entertainment awards

While most people are focused on the September Celebrations, the promoters of the Belize Entertainment Awards Show are already taking nominations for their event in December. According Global Productions, the second awards show to honour local artists will be bigger and better than the first with all the nominees treated to a red carpet entrance. News Five spoke with Event Coordinator Peter Johnson about how the public can make their nominations.

“We have contacted radio stations countrywide, so as of Monday you will be hearing the different disc jockeys taking down the names for possible nominees within the different categories. From there, all those names will be passed onto Global, what we will do is put them on a website, as well as circulating in the newspaper for a first vote-off for the top five nominees for the awards show. The second voting will take place a month before the show, which is scheduled for December tenth at the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts. Hence the reason we have started early to get the public aware that hey, you do have something to look forward to, as well as to get our artists and our entertainers prepared for this year’s award show.”

A new category has also been added this year, Soca-Brukdown fusion. Nominations will be accepted up to September sixteenth.
