Major drug bust in Corozal
Late this evening police in the north confirmed that an anti drug unit operation yielded a huge bust of heroin near the outskirts of the Corozal. The exact quantity of the drug is believed to be forty pounds or nineteen plus kilos which carries a street value of twelve million Belize dollars. It is the largest bust of heroin so far for the north. Police say that four Belizeans were nabbed as they intercepted a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. They are Jose Lara, a fisherman of San Pedro, Lenon Tillett of Belize City, Gerardo Allen of Caye Caulker and Martin Perez of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, which is quickly becoming a hotspot for drug trafficking. From what police say, the drugs were to be transported across the northern border.
