Comedians raise funds for colleague’s operation
They say laughter is the best medicine, but some Belizean comedians are hoping they can also use it to pay for medical treatment. Dillon Jones of Orange Walk says when his friend Robert Usher found out he needed surgery, he put out the call to comedians and other artists. The result is a fundraising night of laughter and music. Jones told News Five about the headliners who will be giving the one-liners.

“The show is entitled “Laugh till yuh belly bust.” It’s going to be a very big show on the twenty-seventh, which is Saturday night and we have the best comedians from all over the country in the likes of Kenny Morgan, Rafael Martinez, Grandmaster will be there, and Leonard Mangar coming all the way from San Ignacio, and myself Dillon Jones who is a stand-up comedian will be performing that night too.
After the show there will be a dance with the Youth Connection Band, the internationally known Youth Connection Band. Andy Palacio will be performing a couple songs and I think by now the country knows that Orange Walk has taken on a thing for rock music and we have the best rock band in the country will be performing, which is Legacy.”
“It’s something where everybody can be a part of the show. It’s not only just you go there, sit, and laugh; you can actually be a part of the show. So we want to invite everybody to come on out and Belize City people are welcome. Just come on out and have fun.”
The show is Saturday night at the Boundary Stadium in Orange Walk. Entrance is ten dollars in advance, twelve at the door.
