Gunman Targets Hattieville Resident
Just after midnight on Saturday, a shot was fired as the Bowen family of Hattieville was celebrating the birthday of one of their own at their residence on Camal Street. The party, however, was disrupted when twenty-seven year old Eugene Pitts was injured by a single gunshot fired at the crowd by a gunman, believed to have been hiding in nearby bushes. Partygoers scrambled for safety, as Pitts lay wounded on the ground. He was hit to the lower back and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for surgery. Tonight, Pitts remains hospitalized in a stable condition. The incident has left the Bowen family shaken as children and babies were at the party and could have been injured by the pellets that ricocheted off the wall of the house and penetrated the tarp of the tents. News Five went looking for answers as to the motive behind the shooting?

“Everyone was partying, socializing, having fun; drinking was at a low…everybody was mostly in their sober point. Mostly family and friends were here; nobody that gives trouble and everybody was dancing under the tent. Carson was more to the back but everybody was having fun, talking and the moment was just right. I was going inside the house to get a drink of water when I heard a loud bang. Then I heard people saying that it was the speakers that blow, but the speakers were still on. I went around and I saw someone laying on the ground and people screaming out and everybody tripping saying Carson got shot. Well I didn’t know what to say because I couldn’t believe it. An area like us? We? What could we possibly do to anyone that would want to shoot Carson? I didn’t know how I felt that night. All the little families, the babies, pregnant ladies, mothers. It was a very sensitive area to have a gunshot like that burst off. And it was a scattered shot because little holes were in the top of the tenth. So imagine a baby would have gotten shot, a pregnant lady…someone of that concern…mien that would have been very bad.”

“I also understand that Carson isn’t anyone that’s giving trouble out there for him to be shot.”

“No Carson is a very nice guy. He’s cool; that’s my OG. We always hang out, DJ together. He loves music. I fix speakers for him, he lends me amps and computers and we really hang out a lot. From I know he, he never gives trouble, noh into gang thing, noh into no bad bwai thing. He loves going to church and into his girlfriend. He is a cool guy, so I don’t know why anybody woulda want do something like that.”
Hattieville Police have since detained one person pending investigation.
