Man charged in failed shooting attempt
A youth from Sandhill has been charged following an attack on a Belize City teen that might have been fatal if not for sheer luck. Eighteen year old Edward King of Electric Avenue told police that on Monday night he was in his yard when four men he knew rode up to him on bikes. One of the men put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, but the weapon did not fire, giving King the opportunity to run and hide in the bushes. Police subsequently picked up Floyd McFadzen on Balam Street and on him found a black flare launcher with a sixteen gauge cartridge. McFadzen was charged with keeping ammunition without a license and having an imitation firearm with criminal intent. The other three men are still being sought by police.
