Students win scholarships to Taiwan
As the new school year begins, some young Belizeans are heading abroad to continue their education. Among them will be a group which has received scholarships to study in Taiwan. Seven Belizeans will be pursuing master’s degrees in a wide range of fields at several different universities. They are: Aisha Andrewin, Frieda Palma, Dalwin Lewis, Farah Evans, Andrea Reneau, Marie Ann Scott, and Douglas Aspinal. Two others, Catherine Hob and Dalmar Lucas, have been awarded scholarships towards a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. In addition, six other Belizeans will spend a year studying Mandarin at a Chinese language centre before embarking on their bachelor?s degree studies in Taiwan. The Embassy is also co-sponsoring eight Belizean artisans at an eight week bamboo crafts training course currently underway in Guatemala.
