Emmanuel Willoughby Was On Crime Rampage in Cayo

Reymundo Reyes

So why did Emmanuel Willoughby leave Cayo and come to Belize City? It could be because Cayo Police had launched an intensive manhunt for him. Today, News Five spoke to Deputy Commander of Cayo Inspector Reymundo Reyes. He told us on Monday a resident went to dump garbage in the Kontiki area, and that’s when Willoughby hitched a ride to the city, at gunpoint. That’s when Police informed their counterparts to be on the lookout for him.

Via Phone: Insp. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy Commander, Cayo

“Here in San Ignacio we didn’t have any physical contact with him. What happened we were having a series of robberies and based on the description given to us by the victims we determined that it was Emmanuel Willoughby who escaped from prison in December last year. We were behind him and conducted several operations, checked several abandoned houses in the area of the Santiago Juan layout where information was that he was hanging around. Up to Monday there was information that sometime after Monday he got a person at gunpoint and demanded that the person transport him to Belize City which was done. On that same evening the gentleman’s cell phone was recovered in Belize City and that is how we knew that yes his whereabouts were confirmed to be in Belize City because of the information that the gentleman gave us when he came back to San Ignacio.”

Police believe that Emmanuel is linked to four separate cases of robbery in the Cayo jurisdiction since he escaped from prison.
