No Kidnapping…But A Wake Up Call

Deputy Officer Commanding the Eastern Division of the Belize City Police Department, Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster, says that while the report may have sounded a false alarm, it is a perfect opportunity to encourage parents and guardians as well as the schools to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of the children.

“What we want to encourage the principals and the school wardens and parents and the community at large is to be on the lookout for our children and to ensure that when anyone sees any suspicious activity or anything out of the ordinary or any vehicle that is circling, not normally in the area, to call the police and report the matter so that we can investigate and check it out.  There is a lot of panic that is going on with parents and some parents today didn’t send their children to school. We are saying to them that you can send our child to school and we are just appealing to the community to be calm and to ensure that it’s like I said before. And I need to emphasize it….if there is anything out of the ordinary or if you see anyone or any group or vehicle doing anything that they are not supposed to be doing, especially as it relates to children, please call us and we will go and investigate the matter and we will ensure that it is dealt with.”

As we said, while reports were made by two students simultaneously on Thursday, investigations so far have revealed that there are no missing students at this time.
