Constable hit by car on way to work
A police officer remains hospitalised tonight after he was knocked down in Belize City on Saturday evening. According to authorities, P.C. Jody Ingram was walking to work around three-twenty that afternoon, but as he reached the Pound Yard Bridge he was hit by a car.

“He was reporting for duty. He was heading in the vicinity of the Pound Yard Bridge and he was knocked down by a taxi. The driver has since been taken into custody. P.C. Ingram has been hospitalised since. He was in intensive care initially and is now recuperating. He may be hospitalised for a period to come. The officers have since arrested and charged the taxi driver.”
That taxi driver has been identified as Reynald Hamilton. Hamilton has been charged with negligent grievous harm, driving without due care and attention, driving contrary to traffic, and driving with alcohol content above the prescribed limit.
