Finally Jaguar Paw Road Will Be Paved!
The five and a half mile stretch between Frank’s Eddy Village and Nohoch Che’en, known as the Jaguar Paw Road, is among the most trafficked roadways for the busing of tourists to and from the archaeological site. Despite its heavy use, the road has remained in a state of disrepair for years, undoubtedly an eyesore for visitors traversing the area. Earlier today, the Ministry of Works and Transport signed a contract with Belize Roadway Construction Limited for the paving of the thoroughfare. Signing on behalf of the Government of Belize was Minister Rene Montero and C.E.O. Errol Gentle, while BRC was represented by Tim Banman and Daniel Cano. We note that Cano is the former executive director of the Social Investment Fund. He came under fire a little over a year ago when it was revealed that there were financial irregularities during the reconstruction of the Dangriga marketplace and he was asked to tender his resignation. But he has now surfaced with the four point eight million dollars project to repair the Jaguar Paw Road. The project is scheduled to be completed within six months.
