Toledo Man Charged for Public Drinking and Bribery
A resident of San Pedro Columbia, Toledo, is lucky to have escaped jail time for attempting to bribe a cop. Twenty-six year old Hilberto Kim was recently caught drinking in public and to avoid detention, he attempted to pay off a police officer with ten dollars. The officer rejected the offer and charged Kim for both public drinking as well as bribery. When Kim appeared in the courtroom of Magistrate Herbert Panton, he wasted no time and pleaded guilty to both offenses and soon learnt that bribery carries a two year jail term. But Magistrate Panton took into consideration that Kim had no previous conviction before the court and fined him a total of five hundred and twenty-five dollars. A relieved Kim left the courtroom as soon as he was told he was free to go. He has until March 2015 to pay the fines. The incident happened at the corner of Orange and George Streets.
