Security guard tries to jack 12-year-old
He may not have had the backup of a firearm, but a twelve year old boy displayed a whole lot of courage when he stood up to a robber on Thursday afternoon. The child, Leon Lamb, told police that as he was riding near Gwen Liz High a man attacked him and threw him off his bike. Despite the fact that his assailant was armed with a knife, Lamb chased after him and tried to grab the bike… at which point the thief stabbed the boy in his hand. A scream for help brought the attention of area citizens who chased down the jacker and held him until a passing policeman took him into custody. Today that man, twenty-eight year old Salvadoran security guard Elias Gomez of Coffin Street, was charged with robbery and wounding in Magistrate’s Court. Gomez pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded to prison until August twenty-sixth.
